Japanese Tissue
Japanese tissue is made with plant fibers indigenous to the region and not used in tissue made in the USA. All sheets exhibit the same characteristic of a shiny side and a dull side. Glue can be applied to either side, builder’s choice. All colors are permanent and do not bleed when wet. The tissue can be applied wet due to having excellent wet strength as well as good grain running parallel to the long side of the sheet. It is superior to domestic tissue for building model airplanes. All tissue is shipped rolled. Please note images of the tissue may appear differently on different monitors. We apply tissue using glue stic, and shrink by misting with water after attaching to the structure. Finish with several light coats of Krylon Clear Satin finish aerosol paint. Gampi Japanese Tissue
GAMPI Tissue covering material. January 2017 batch. 12 grams per square meter; our lightest tissue. The tissue has a grain running in one direction; Gampi has one side slightly shiny, the other matt. Wet strength is less than the other Japanese tissues; dry strength is stronger than Esaki. Suitable for smaller planes given its weight and suitable for larger planes given its strength. It accepts pastel chalk for those interested in an alternative to paints. Shrinkage can be controlled. Water shrinks the tissue in one application, rubbing alcohol is gentler and may take several cycles of application and drying. Depending on how you prep and apply it will determine how much it shrinks. Given its low wet strength it can be difficult to work with on compound curves compared to Esaki. Our team testing its use found it very suitable for peanuts and for covering tail surfaces on larger models where you want to avoid warpage. Good puncture resistance. Can be adhered with a glue stick, water based glues or dope. Gampi Test Results
